Queer Writes
We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Hilary McCollum, Paul Maddern, Mícháel McCann & Daire Ní Channáin as we celebrate the writing of LGBTQIA+ authors. Dr. McCollum is a writer and creative activist who has written four plays, including Out Loud, an interview-inspired play about the lives of LGBTQ people in Derry. Paul Maddern has four publications with Templar Poetry and his poem, ‘Effacé’, is on the Northern Irish GCSE Syllabus. He’s the editor of Queering the Green: Post 2000 Queer Irish Poetry (Lifeboat Press, 2022). Mícheál McCann is a poet from Derry. His work has appeared in The Poetry Review, Queering the Green, The New Frontier: Writing from the Irish Border and Poetry Ireland Review, and featured on BBC Radio 3 and RTE 1. Daire Ní Chanáin has a degree in Gaeilge agus Léann an Aistriúcháin (Irish and Translation studies), is an Irish language poet and a reporter for the Derry Journal.
