Panellists Sue Divin, Michelle Gallen, and Shirley-Anne Mc Millan join host Dr. Hilary McCollum to discuss writing for peace as female authors based in Northern Ireland. Novelist and playwright Dr. Hilary McCollum holds a fellowship at the Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen’s University. Sue Divin has two YA/Crossover novels (Macmillan), Truth Be Told and Carnegie short-listed Guard Your Heart, which also won the Great Reads Award 2022 (Ireland). Michelle Gallen’s debut novel Big Girl, Small Town was shortlisted for several major awards (Costa First Novel Award, an Irish Book Award, the Comedy Women in Print Award, the Christopher Ewart-Biggs Memorial Prize and the Kate O’Brien Award) and is being adapted for TV. Factory Girls, her second novel, was published in June 2022. Shirley-Anne McMillan has published several novels set in Northern Ireland for young adults. Her fourth novel, Grapefruit Moon, deals with class issues, gender and poetry, and will be published in 2023.
